This is an interesting essay by Paul Graham, particularly since it was published in 2008.

In the best part of 4 years, almost all of the 30 ideas he proposes have barely been exploited fully, nor any of the problems it raises have been solved.

It just goes to show there is still an enormous world of opportunities to be explored by technology and design.
